Thank you for your interest in Greenville STEM Academy.  We will be happy to answer any questions you may have about student enrollment in 2024-25 or other topics.

Greenville STEM Academy (GSA) is dedicated to ensuring comprehensive plans are in place to address the needs of every student from the onset of instruction. Our policies encompass all required elements, aligning with Federal and State regulations, including aspects such as discipline, confidentiality, accountability, maintenance of effort, and child find.

In the unlikely event of an interruption in our initial plans, GSA has a contingency planning team ready to convene. This team will thoroughly investigate and establish compensatory services to guarantee the continued support of all students.

To ensure transparency and accessibility, GSA commits to maintaining and disseminating North Carolina Policies governing Services for Students with Disabilities. Additionally, we provide direct access to Procedural Safeguards: Handbooks on Parents’ Rights through our website/online portal, fostering open communication and understanding for parents, staff, and stakeholders.

Supporting Students with Intensive Needs

At Greenville STEM Academy (GSA), our MTSS Model seamlessly integrates assessment and intervention within a multi-level prevention system, prioritizing the maximization of student achievement while minimizing behavior problems. During our weekly Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings, a crucial element of our MTSS Model, we employ data to identify students for acceleration or those at risk of encountering learning challenges.

MTSS at GSA serves as a dynamic tool to monitor student progress, providing evidence-based interventions and allowing for adjustments in intensity and nature based on individual student responsiveness. Furthermore, it plays a pivotal role in supporting and identifying students with learning disabilities, serving as a primary component of our Child Study initiatives.

When addressing the needs of students requiring intensive support, GSA adopts a problem-solving approach that delineates individual tasks and objectives. Academic or behavioral support may include strategies such as small group instruction, one-on-one instruction, explicit instruction, mu

ltisensory learning, and technology/computer-based interventions. To ensure effectiveness, any intensive support comes with increased progress monitoring through curriculum-based assessments, either teacher-created or embedded within evidence-based programs like Edmark, Wilson Language, Direct Instruction, and OG.

All forms of support align closely with the goals and objectives outlined in individual student IEPs. In cases where intensive support is implemented, additional IEP Team meetings may be scheduled for progress reporting, subject to approval by the IEP Team. GSA remains steadfast in its commitment to providing a tailored and effective learning environment for every student.
